Process

I like exploring my own psyche. So I create a massive space using blocks of color and shape (some random, some not) and then I begin to turn that space into something. I rarely know what it will be when I start and am often surprised with where it finishes. I make stories about it as I go along, but I keep them to myself so that others can make their own stories with the finished product. Each painting ends up generating its own mythos for me. Some exist in the same universe and others in pockets. Typically cartoonish. I challenge myself to juxtapose styles and violate typical rules of how space SHOULD be used. Most of my works are a merging of organic and mechanical and recently they have become too large to fit on my walls and too detailed to be viewed at appropriate distances. I mostly do this because it’s cathartic for me to create and stimulating for me to look at.

Medium

I mostly work in digital now as it suits my spatial constraints, but I occasionally need to get my clothes dirty and I’ll knock out an acrylic/watercolor or two. I enjoy working in oils the most… but can’t tolerate the preparation and clean-up. I don’t make prints of my art and when I have printed my digital pieces onto canvas I delete the file. Impermanence is something I value in a time where things can easily be mass produced. I now make NFTs of my digital pieces before deleting the file. I’ll include them with the purchase of original digital pieces.
